BBQ Quarter pounders (Makes 12)

Mum used to make us burgers as a treat.  To this day I can still smell the beef and onion as she was making them.  Today, I have added a few of my favourite ingredients and frequently make this recipe when we are hosting a BBQ. I have a burger press which can be easily and cheaply purchased online for £5. This is a rather large recipe, however you can either cut down the ingredients or the are good to be frozen into portions.

 

Ingredients:

  • 3 x 400g good beef mince (10% fat)

  • 1 tbsp. of Dijon mustard

  • Sprig of fresh thyme and parsley

  • 1 x large egg

  • 1 x onion (minced)

  • 2 x cloves of garlic

  • Inch of chilli

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl making sure that everything is incorporated well

  2. Take a small handful and either place in a burger press or alternatively roll into a ball and then flatter with your hand

  3. These can either be placed on the BBQ for around 20 minutes (to taste) or alternatively fried in some oil in a pan or a griddle pan for around 10 minutes

  4. I serve these with some pitta bread and pickled cabbage
